What we deliver
In this service we apply hardening focused on one of the major public cloud providers. We cover identity and access management, audit trails, monitoring and logging, storage, network segmentation and security groups, organizational policies and security posture consolidation. The goal is to reduce the attack surface, make operations more predictable and align the environment with recognized best practices and benchmarks, with traceability for audits.
The problem it solves
Environments with permissive access policies, disabled or incomplete trails, inconsistent logging, open network rules and no coherent organizational policies.
Infrastructure, DevOps and security teams that need to harden the environment without stopping operations.
After the cloud security assessment, before audits, when there are known configuration gaps or as part of an ongoing security program.
Scope of work
Deliverables
How the work happens, in practice
Identity and access controls
Root account protection (MFA, no access keys, used only for tasks that require it), multi-factor authentication for users, least-privilege roles instead of users with long-lived keys, use of IAM Identity Center for human access, analysis of external access with IAM Access Analyzer and periodic review of unused permissions. In accounts with many teams, organizational policies (SCPs in AWS Organizations) set limits that no individual account can exceed, such as preventing CloudTrail from being disabled or unauthorized regions from being used.
Audit trail, logging and detection
CloudTrail enabled in all regions, with file integrity validation and storage in a restricted-access bucket; AWS Config to track configuration changes and evaluate compliance rules; GuardDuty to detect suspicious behavior and Security Hub to consolidate findings and evaluate standards such as the CIS AWS Foundations Benchmark; VPC flow logs and alarms for critical events, such as root account usage and changes to IAM policies. The trail must exist before the incident, not after, and ideally be centralized in a separate account.
Network, storage and encryption
Security groups and ACLs with the minimum number of open ports, no 0.0.0.0/0 on remote administration, segmentation between environments, account-level public access blocking on S3 buckets, encryption at rest and in transit (TLS), use of AWS KMS with well-defined key policies and IMDSv2 on EC2 instances. VPC endpoints reduce AWS service traffic over the internet. When the environment uses infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or CloudFormation, the controls are applied and verified through the same workflow, which avoids manual drift and makes auditing easier.
What sets us apart
- Depth in the chosen provider, not a generic approach
